As the holiday season approaches, it’s a perfect opportunity to reflect on the incredible work you and your teams accomplish daily. You lead organizations that honor dignity and foster meaningful relationships with elders and their families who depend on us. This season invites us to pause, celebrate one another, and express an appreciation for the vital roles we play in so many lives. Let this celebration of gratitude be thoughtful and deeply felt.
The Power of Our Profession
As senior care professionals, we are privileged to care for deserving individuals in our communities—beloved family members, community leaders, and those who have profoundly shaped the lives of others. Ours is an important profession, deeply rooted in respect, compassion, and leadership. Each and every day, your impact and presence exemplify these values.
One of the emerging leaders, responding to an assessment asking why they chose this senior living field said, “it gives me an opportunity to do good for those that have done good for us.” As leaders we model that behavior in senior care with pride and excellence leadership. Thank you for carrying that torch forward with and for others.

Leadership Insights
Leading with Gratitude
During this busy holiday season, we urge you to slow down and take a little time to recognize and appreciate your colleagues, teams and staff. Acknowledge their dedication and compassion with a simple “thank you.” They need you as much you need them and during this time of year an appreciative conversation or note can, and at just the right moment when someone needs encouragement most.
I am inspired by you and the incredible individuals in this profession. Working alongside people who demonstrate unmatched care and service is an honor. You embody the best of what our profession offers to our aging country and communities. Though the journey hasn’t always been easy, it has been meaningful because we’ve faced it together. While some may highlight significant challenges—like staffing shortages and recruitment challenges—we have an opportunity to focus on growth, stability, and thriving as a profession.
Your resiliency, teamwork emphasis, and strong leadership creates a culture of care and service that leads the way to remarkable outcomes and results.
Modeling for the Future
As we celebrate our achievements today, it’s equally important to look ahead to tomorrow and begin to strategically invest in nurturing future leaders While broad competition for talent remains in the forefront, our field offers something unique and significant: the opportunity to have purpose filled jobs is important for this next generation. They see you doing that every day by making a difference for elders and their families.
We must continue to share this message across a wide variety of stakeholder groups to expand the possibilities of the talent pool we need. By mentoring, supporting professional development, and fostering an environment where students, new staff and team members can flourish, we’re shaping the next generation of senior living and aging services leaders.
A Season to Celebrate Yourself and Reflect
During this season of reflection, we hope you can take a moment to consider the impact you have made. Look at the many lives you’ve touched, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the hope you provide and bring to so many.
We celebrate your contributions and gifts to people and a profession that serves with compassion and humanity. You are truly special people doing special things every day. Your continued leadership and commitment continue to pave the way toward a more promising future for all.
May this holiday season bring you a renewed sense of appreciation and purpose for the important work you do for people from all different places and perspectives across this country.
Thank you for everything you do for those that have done good for us.
Happy Holidays!
