Raising Awareness & Promoting Enhanced Care for World Alzheimer’s Day

Every year on September 21, World Alzheimer’s Day raises awareness, reduces stigma, and honors the millions of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. As one of the most common causes of cognitive decline in older adults, Alzheimer’s impacts not only memory and function but also the very fabric of relationships and daily life.
Alzheimer’s by the Numbers:
- An estimated 7.2 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s in 2025. Seventy-four percent are age 75 or older.
- About 1 in 9 people age 65 and older (11%) has Alzheimer’s.
- Almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women.
- Alzheimer’s kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.

For long-term and post-acute care professionals, World Alzheimer’s Day is a powerful reminder of our responsibility to deliver compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity, fosters connection, and supports the unique needs of every resident living with dementia.
Support from Pathway Health
At Pathway Health, we are proud to support care teams across the country with education, tools, and resources that empower better understanding and more responsive care strategies, such as the on-demand dementia training in partnership with Care Providers of Minnesota.
Our training library provides education for both direct and non-direct care staff and can be accessed through the Pathway Learning Network. The learning modules fulfill all the initial dementia training requirements for all Assisted Living Facilities and Assisted Living Facilities with Dementia Care, including the Housing with Services (HWS) Manager requirement under Minnesota Statute 144G.64.
Today and every day, we stand with caregivers, families, healthcare professionals, and communities working together to advance care, expand support, and ultimately work toward a world without Alzheimer’s.
